This is without a doubt a food lover’s wine – fruity notes and savory undertones are perfectly matched to provide mouthwatering flavors and compelling aromas. On the nose, this wine leads with yellow fruit—both citrus and tropical—which is followed by piney and herbal notes. And on the palate, the underripe flavor of pineapple and mango is rounded out with mouth-coating viscosity, mineral flintiness, and tons of texture.

Fiano is an ancient white grape variety from Campania, Italy, pronounced "fee-ah-no". The name comes from Vitis apiana, which means "vine beloved of bees". The grapes were apparently so sweet that bees couldn't resist them. Fiano's history can be traced back to the Roman Empire, when it was used in a famous wine called Apianum. The grape was also appreciated in the Middle Ages, and King Charles d'Anjou of Naples is said to have planted 16,000 Fiano vines in the royal vineyards.

About the Winery

Tenuta del Meriggio is located in the Campania region of southern Italy, particularly known for producing wines from the Irpinia area. The estate is committed to traditional methods and sustainable practices in viticulture, focusing on local grape varieties like Fiano, Greco, and Aglianico. Their wines are characterized by a strong sense of terroir, with a focus on expressing the unique qualities of the volcanic soils and the cool, mountainous climate of the region. The winery emphasizes quality, producing wines that are both elegant and complex.

Their modern winery is built according to the principles of environmental sustainability: solar powered equipment, filtered wastewater through phytoremediation, and stored rainwater in a small lake on the estate. The cellar is completely underground, covered with a green roof and moisture levels are kept constant by a wall kept wet by groundwater.
