From one of southern Italy’s most quietly compelling regions, Ramitello showcases the depth and character of Molise—an area of rolling coastal hills, limestone-rich soils, and centuries-old farming traditions. A blend of 80% Montepulciano and 20% Aglianico, the wine is sourced from Di Majo Norante’s organically farmed Ramitello vineyard near the Adriatic Sea, where warm days, cool breezes, and clay-limestone soils create the perfect environment for bold yet beautifully balanced reds. Fermented in stainless steel and aged twelve months in a mix of large Slavonian casks and small barriques, it marries the structure of Aglianico with the lush, generous fruit of Montepulciano.

In the glass, this vintage is expressive and layered: aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, plum, dried violets, cocoa, and sweet spice rise immediately, with subtle notes of tobacco leaf and Mediterranean herbs adding complexity. The palate is full and velvety, delivering ripe black fruit wrapped in supple tannins, a mineral undercurrent, and a long, savory finish touched by espresso and warm spice. Ramitello is everything we love about southern Italian reds—rich but not heavy, rustic but refined, and endlessly food-friendly. Perfect for braised meats, roasted vegetables, hearty pastas, or any meal that calls for depth, warmth, and a generous pour.

About the Winery

Few estates capture the soul of Molise like Di Majo Norante. Founded in the early 1800s, the family’s winemaking roots stretch back generations, but it was the late Alessandro di Majo Norante who transformed the estate into a beacon of modern southern Italian viticulture. Today, under the guidance of his son Luigi, the winery continues to honor that legacy—crafting expressive, organic wines that balance power with precision.

Located near the Adriatic coast in Campomarino, Di Majo Norante farms over 200 hectares of vineyards surrounding the family’s 17th-century cellar, once part of a Benedictine abbey. The philosophy is simple but steadfast: respect the land, celebrate native varieties, and let each grape speak in its own dialect. With consulting enologist Riccardo Cotarella, the estate has redefined what Molise can achieve, producing wines that are both approachable and profound.

From crisp Falanghina to bold Aglianico, and the iconic Ramitello Molise Rosso, every bottle tells the story of a region once overlooked but now confidently standing among Italy’s greats—a place where ancient soil and modern craft meet under the southern sun.
