The Coast View Vineyard is stunningly beautiful, at 2,200’ it is one of the highest
elevation vineyards in the central coast, overlooking the verdant Salinas Valley far
below. The Gabilan Mountains is a new AVA founded in 2022, running 30 miles along
the range, with a minimum elevation of 1500 ft. The mountains form the east side of
the Salinas Valley, and these hills were formed by the crushing of the North American and Pacific tectonic plates, which left behind quartz-rich decomposed granite soils, with veins of limestone throughout.

The Chardonnay grows at the peak of the hill at Coast View, with exposed windy
conditions and extremely well-draining granite soils. The yields are low and the
berries are very small, resulting in a richly textured wine with vibrant minerality
which uniquely expresses these rugged coastal California hills.

Fermented in stainless steel with native yeast and native malolactic fermentation,
then aged in five neutral oak barrels for nine months. 126 cases produced. 12% abv

About the Winery

Caitlin Quinn was raised in San Luis Obispo wine country, and has made wine for over a decade in California and abroad. Finding inspiration from her family, friends, and incredible mentors in Santa Cruz and Sonoma Counties, she started NoneSuch Wines in 2017.

Embracing minimalist winemaking techniques in order to express vineyard terroir fully, the grapes are hand-harvested and foot tread, fermented whole-cluster naturally with native yeasts, and aged in entirely neutral oak barrels.

NoneSuch is a feeling of discovery, something aligning in the right time and place, transmitted through soil into wine. It is seeking out exceptional and inspiring vineyards where grapes convey the soil and climate unique to their position in California.
