Islands are always being conquered... And that's no different in Sardinia. For over 100 years, the Spanish ruled over this small island in the middle of the Mediterranean, and like all good Europeans, they brought with them their native grape vines from Spain. What is called Grenache in France is called Garnacha in Spain. But in Sardinia, it's called Cannonau. Where a grape grows has everything to do with how its resulting wine shows. The warm winds coming up from Africa via the Mediterranean ripens these old-vine grapes in a very special way, accentuating a warm-spice note that perfectly complements the black-fruited plums and subtle aromatic herb notes lying beneath the surface. And on top of that, it's a Riserva bottling, so it gets extra aging at the winery; not to mention it's a 2014!! Cheers!

About the Winery

Within the 5 hillside communes of Sardinia's Porteolla region (of the town of Cagliari) are some of the finest & oldest vineyards on the island. These vineyards contain noble, indigenous varietals such as Cannonau, Vermentino, Moscato, and Monica to name a few. In this beautiful area is where you find Cantine Dolianova. Working with roughly 300 members for nearly 70 years, their success has lead them to becoming the top cooperative in Sardinia.
