About the Winery

Alinea Wines is a boutique winery in South Africa, founded in 2021 by winemaker Natasha Jacka. The name "Alinea," meaning "the beginning of a new train of thought," reflects Natasha's innovative approach to winemaking. Natasha began her career as a chef in fine dining restaurants before transitioning to winemaking. In 2017, she joined Cape Point Vineyards, where her passion for winemaking flourished. She pursued formal studies at Elsenburg Agricultural College, graduating in 2020.
Alinea’s vineyards are spread across different microclimates, from cooler coastal areas to warmer inland valleys, allowing the team to experiment with a diverse array of grapes. Rhône varietals, once overlooked in South Africa, thrive in the warm, dry climate and produce wines with vibrant fruit flavors, layered complexity, and a sense of place.

From the beginning, Alinea Wines has been committed to organic and sustainable farming practices. Hand-harvesting is the norm, and in the cellar, the team takes a creative but restrained approach, experimenting with techniques like whole-bunch fermentation and gentle maceration to enhance aromatics and texture without overwhelming the wine’s natural character.
