This Barolo is made from a combination of all the single vineyard sites Azelia has been farming for over a century! Although Barolo wines can often be extremely tannic and unapproachable when young, this wine is crafted to be accessible even in its youth. And yet, it’s still very age-worthy, so why not buy two bottles—one to drink with dinner tonight, and one to lay down in the cellar for a while…?

This is classic Barolo, showing lovely notes of spice box and cherry fruit on the nose, and backing that complexity up with chewy tannins and real depth on the palate. A great accompaniment to pork belly or brisket, or what the heck…even a carnitas burrito!

About the Winery

Azelia is a historical and small family-run winery founded in 1920 in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Langa of Barolo, one of the most extraordinary wine regions in the world.

The Scavino family has been farming with devotion for five generations vines of the three native local varieties only: Dolcetto, Barbera, and mostly Nebbiolo to produce wines that exalt the terroir, tradition, and history of their hillside vineyards. Hillsides which are world renowned for their uniqueness and that have been officially been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
