Musella’s Recioto della Valpolicella is a rare and elegant expression of one of Italy’s most historic dessert wines. Crafted using the traditional appassimento method, native grapes—primarily Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara—are carefully hand-harvested and then air-dried for several months in well-ventilated lofts. This slow drying concentrates their sugars and flavors, resulting in a wine that is both luxuriously sweet and impeccably balanced.
In the glass, it’s a deep garnet red with inviting aromas of dried cherry, fig, rose petal, cocoa, and sweet spice. On the palate, it’s rich and velvety, with a lingering finish that never overwhelms thanks to its bright acidity and fine structure.
This Recioto is a natural companion to bold blue cheeses like Gorgonzola Dolce, dark chocolate desserts, spiced nuts, or even a post-dinner moment of quiet reflection. A soulful sip of Verona’s winemaking legacy—at once decadent and deeply refined.
Serve slightly chilled to highlight its freshness.
About the Winery
In the rolling hills just outside Verona, the Musella estate weaves together centuries of history with a distinctly modern vision. Once the domain of noble families, the property spans woodlands, meadows, olive groves, and vineyards—a thriving ecosystem that reflects Musella’s deep commitment to biodynamic farming. When Maddalena Pasqua di Bisceglie took over the estate in the 1990s, she transformed it into one of the first biodynamic wineries in the Valpolicella region, placing harmony with nature at the heart of every decision.
Today, Musella produces a range of wines that express the unique character of their terroir. From bright, lively reds to rich, meditative expressions crafted through the traditional appassimento method, the wines are unmistakably rooted in place yet elevated by thoughtful innovation. Indigenous grapes like Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara are grown with care, harvested by hand, and vinified with minimal intervention to let the land speak clearly.
Musella’s cellar is a blend of old and new—historic stone walls sheltering concrete, steel, and wood vessels, each chosen to best support the wine's natural evolution. Fermentations rely on native yeasts, and patience is a key ingredient at every stage, from the drying of grapes to the slow maturation of the finished wines.
Above all, Musella is more than a winery—it’s a living, breathing farm where biodiversity thrives and every bottle tells a story of balance, beauty, and bold intention.
