About the Winery

Helmut Christ is a well-known winemaker and pioneer in biodynamic viticulture. Based in the Franken region of Germany, Helmut and his family have been committed to organic and biodynamic farming practices for decades. In 1974, Christ transitioned to organic viticulture due to concerns about soil erosion and the impact of conventional farming methods on both the environment, and his own health. His approach puts emphasis on sustainability, the health of the soil, and the quality of the crops.

Christ's winery, Weingut Helmut Christ, has vineyards that benefit from the unique terroir of the Maindreieck area, characterized by its Muschelkalk (shell limestone) soils. The winery received biodynamic Demeter certification in 2006, and has maintained a strong connection to the natural environment ever since, reflecting its commitment to natural and holistic farming practices.

In recent years, Helmut Christ has handed over the management of the winery to his son, Michael, who continues the family's tradition of biodynamic winemaking. The Christ family’s dedication to biodynamic principles ensures their wines express the true character of their terroir.
