Grechetto Fiordaliso greets the nose with a delicate bloom of white flowers, pear, and chamomile, wrapped in notes of golden apple and a faint whisper of almond. A hint of wild herbs and wet stone weaves through the aroma, recalling the sunlit hills and the breeze off Umbria’s ancient olive groves.
On the palate, it’s lively yet layered—medium-bodied with a pleasing roundness balanced by a bright, saline snap. Flavors of ripe pear, Meyer lemon, and green plum unfold with gentle persistence, framed by a fine-boned acidity that gives lift and length. The finish lingers with citrus peel, almond skin, and a trace of minerality that’s both refreshing and quietly sophisticated. It’s a wine that manages to be easygoing and elegant all at once—like a linen shirt on a perfect spring day.
Grechetto’s fresh yet textural style makes it a joy to pair with food. It sings with pasta dressed in spring herbs, grilled shrimp with lemon and olive oil, or roast chicken scented with rosemary and garlic. For lighter fare, try a shaved fennel salad with citrus and Pecorino, or soft cheeses like Robiola or young goat cheese.
About the Winery
In the green heart of Umbria, just outside the medieval town of Todi, Roccafiore is redefining what it means to make “modern” Umbrian wine. Founded in 2000 by the Baccarelli family, the estate is both a working winery and a model of sustainable design—powered by solar energy, surrounded by organic vineyards, and home to olive groves, wildflowers, and even a herd of Cinta Senese pigs that help maintain the ecosystem.
Winemaker Luca Baccarelli takes a meticulous, low-intervention approach in the cellar, emphasizing purity of fruit and clarity of place. The focus here is on native varieties like Grechetto di Todi and Sangiovese, with each bottling expressing the layered textures and sun-warmed vitality of Umbria’s hillsides.
Roccafiore’s wines bridge tradition and innovation—deeply rooted in the land, yet full of contemporary freshness. Their Fiordaliso bottling showcases Grechetto at its most graceful: fragrant, textural, and unmistakably Italian.
