A delicately sparkling expression of Moscato d’Asti, made entirely from Moscato grown in small vineyards around Castiglione Tinella. The Guyot-trained vines average 40 years old and grow in limestone- and clay-rich soils.
After gentle pressing and natural cold settling, the must is held at very low temperature in stainless steel to prevent spontaneous fermentation. Individual batches are fermented throughout the year in pressurized tanks at a cool 12 to 14°C. Once the wine reaches approximately 5.5% alcohol, fermentation is stopped by rapidly lowering the temperature, preserving natural sweetness and the grape’s unmistakable perfume. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation.
Slightly sparkling and wonderfully aromatic, Cascinetta offers ripe peach, apricot, rose petals and a subtle touch of ginger. Sweet, delicate and low in alcohol, it is an easy match for fruit desserts, almond or hazelnut pastries, panna cotta, blue cheese and boldly spiced dishes. Serve well chilled.
About the Winery
Vietti’s history began in the late 1800s, when Carlo Vietti established the winery at the highest point of Castiglione Falletto, the medieval Langhe village it still calls home. His son Mario returned from the United States in 1917 and transformed the family farm into a winery devoted to high-quality production. The next major chapter arrived with Mario’s daughter Luciana Vietti and her husband, winemaker Alfredo Currado.
Alfredo helped place Vietti among Piedmont’s most influential modern estates. He produced one of the earliest single-vineyard Barolos, Rocche di Castiglione, in 1961 and released the first varietally labeled Roero Arneis in 1967. Beginning in 1974, Luciana and Alfredo also invited artists to create original labels for selected wines, connecting the family’s work with their longstanding enthusiasm for art and culture.
The Krause family purchased Vietti in 2016 and expanded its holdings while retaining the winery’s focus on tradition, experimentation and vineyard identity. Today, Vietti works with approximately 75 hectares across the Langhe, Roero, Asti and Colli Tortonesi. Although best known for its Barolo and Barbaresco vineyards, the estate applies the same precision to its classic wines. Cascinetta, sourced from mature Moscato vines around Castiglione Tinella, offers a particularly joyful example.
